Sanna Lehtonen’s lab at the University of Helsinki specializes in kidney disorders due to type 2 diabetes, and has added a mechanobiology dimension to their experiments thanks to our flow chamber platform, vitro.one. The postdoctoral researcher Constanze Schmotz works on cell signaling and mechanotransduction in podocyte cells and has used vitro.one to put podocytes under fluid flow shear stress.
Their preliminary results show multiple proteins that are up- or down-regulated when podocytes are exposed to lifelike mechanical stress.
